Thorp-Splawn Pioneer Cemetery
This cemetery holds the remains of two families of the original settlers in Kittitas County. The land it sits on is currently owned by Craig George. When Cady was growing up, the cemetery and the land surrounding it belonged to Cady's grandparents, Charley and Hazel Lawler. As a pre-teen, Cady had the chore of mowing the grass around the stones. She would load the lawn mower into the back of the pick-up truck and drive it up to the cemetery. The Thorp garden club, the Terra Firma Club, made the cemetery their project and would pay Cady 25 cents to mow the area.
The cemetery is located on private land just north of I-90 and west of Thorp, WA.
